You may know a little bit about the owner of your favorite neighborhood restaurant, but we know a little bit about her that you may not have heard before.
From the Beginning
Kortnee has enjoyed a successful career for twenty years in hospitality. She began her career in Chicago, helping at her family’s catering and banquet business at a young age.
Since then she has worked in various segments of the industry including working for Eli Zabar at E.A.T in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. She worked for Mary Cleaver (Cleaver Co + The Green Table) at the Chelsea Market in New York City. Additionally, she worked at Twin Farms five-star boutique resort in Barnard, Vermont.
She spent two years cooking for the Burlington School Food Project + concurrently created + taught a culinary job training program for New Americans through the Association of Africans Living in Vermont.
She graduated from the Professional Culinary Arts Program at the International Culinary Center in New York City. Kortnee also has a bachelor’s degree in business from DePaul University in Chicago.
Where is She Now?
Now, Kortnee is a wife + mother to Melvin. She enjoys hanging out on the lake, cross-country skiing, spinning classes, yoga + reading old cookbooks.
